Description |
A lovely and unusual carol, not often sung in the UK. It's a beautiful, simple melody with plain accompaniment, here set for brass quintet. This work is by Paul Gerhardt, a little-know contemporary of Bach and Handel.
In the third verse, I have added a 'descant part' for trumpet 1. It briefly goes to a high D, twice, but I didn't want to lose the brightness of a baroque sound.
Parts are supplied for Trumpet 1 & 2, French Horn, Trombone and Tuba, with additional parts for Tenor Horn and Treble clef trombone & Eb Bass. |
