Description This is an original 'bluesy' piece which will provide a contrast to the usual brass band fare.

I tried to create the feel of the music in a sleazy jazz club in the 50s or 60s, and I think I have succeeded. Every part is important - even when resting. The melody is loosely based on "Joshua fit the battle of Jericho" an Afro-American spiritual. The bass line is, basically, a ground bass or riff that repeats throughout the piece and helps to give it the 'sleazy' feel. Players will need to be familiar with some Jazz techniques, including falls and doits, so I have categorised it as 'Advanced' - though there is nothing technically difficult apart from getting the style correct.
