A delightful Welsh lullaby, set here for String Quintet (2 x Vln, Vla, Vlc, CB There is a short intro, followed by the main melody, harmonised in the traditional way, then an interlude followed by two restatements of the theme on different instruments. even the bass gets a look in. This beautiful melody would suit a quiet moment in any concert.
An arrangement of this tune was used in the film "Empire of the Sun" because is sounded like "Shogun". I kid you not!
The arrangement is also suitable for string orchestra. |
